Current Guilty Pleasure: Dawson's Creek

Dawson's Creek is the most awkward shitstorm of writing and acting I have possibly ever seen from network television.  And I can't stop watching.  No thanks to LoveFilm instant watch.

This is one of those shows that I was aware of really only by title as a kid.  I wasn't allowed to watch this.  This, The O.C., and Degrassi were off limits, though I don't have any express memories of my parents explicitly saying I could not watch them.  I do have memories of my father hollering at me to "turn off that sex show," followed by me defending it was just Mr & Mrs Matthews getting frisky on Boy Meets World.

  1. i really like the way you phrased all of this. Also, my parents were decently the same way (my mother still is now, she hates when i watch gilmore girls or boy meets world in the living room with her).

  2. That's interesting, because I am younger than you, and Dawson's Creek is the one show I would sit down and watch with my mum every single Sunday. I now own all the DVDs (got them a few years ago and still haven't rewatched the show... eeek.) I probably didn't understand half of what was going on, now that I think of it.

  3. Your parents=my parents on these shows. Now, I have seen The OC and some of Dawson's Creek and Degrassi and I feel like a badass. But I'm nearly 20 so...it shouldn't be as big a deal as it is.

I couldn't deal with how much of a tumblr-famous-type Michelle Williams' character was though, so I stopped watching.
