Nice bread.

I like nice bread.  I have this romantic idea of myself going weekly to a local independent bakery, exchanging some flirtatious glances with the dark-haired, dark-eyed indie boy working behind the counter, a smudge of flour across his cheek.  Something super cringey and wonderful like that.  I've graced the tube a time or two with a baguette tucked underneath my arm, and I gotta say, it made me feel pretty badass.

Putting eggs/breakfast stuffs on bread feels so European to me as well.  I'm usually a cereal girl in the morning.  Making something like this is definitely a treat.

Sliced banana, toasted bread, ugliest fried egg, feta cheese. Shovel in mouth.

  2. I feel ya.
When I studied in England all my equally-foreign friends complained of how there was no "real bread" in England - particularly the Germans. Since we weren't studying in one of the big urban centres, we were pretty much limited to Tesco loafs.
One of those friends has now got a part-time job at a bakery in Norway and as I looked through photos of their products, I definitely understood what they had meant by "real bread".

(This might be the first time I leave a comment, but I love your blog! Both the pictures and the writing are lovely.)

    1. Tesco has a super amazing walnut bread loaf they bake in-store. Hearty, crusty, dense--not at all a ball-it-up-in-your-first-and-bounce-it-off-the-wall white bread. I can vouch it is very "real."

      (Also thank you!)

  5. Your imaginary bread-buying habits sound much more glamorous than mine, but I just generally aim for no-packaged-bread only-delicious-fresh-bread and it makes my life infinitely better.
