Mezcal Cantina, Dalston.

13 July 2013

Okay, this is gonna sound a little weird, but one thing I miss is Americanized Mexican food.  Basically in the suburbs, there's always a token Mexican restaurant or two.  In Indiana, it was El Rodeo.  And everything tastes super amazing only because it is super unhealthy.  And these places always have queso.  God I miss cheese dip.

My flatmate Rosianna (pictured in this post – the blonde) is half Mexican so I trusted her when she suggested this place.  Mezcal has an breezy, authentic atmosphere.  The prices are a bit steep, but it's definitely a treat to go.

I've had their nachos, their vegetarian enchiladas verdes, and a nibble of this potato taco thing.  What's it called... ahhh, tacos dorados.  All are excellent with the latter probably being my favorite.  And they make a mean marg.

Your bog-standard margarita.

Tacos Dorados and guacamole.

A blurred Enchiladas Verdes with the accompanying rice and bean side.

London gets a lot of crap for not having good (or widely available) Mexican food.  But if you're here, and looking for an incredible meal, I'd say this is definitely a place to check out.  I know I'll be back.  You can check out Mezcal's menu and hours on their Facebook.
